Are natural dyes colorfast? / Los tintes naturales se destiñen?
Plant dyes are living color, and as such they may change with time and exposure. Working with and wearing natural color helps connect us to the natural world, and part of that is accepting the ever-changing cycles of nature. I use safe, proven mordanting methods to properly fix the dye to my yarns, as well as dye sources that give longer lasting color. With proper care, natural colors will remain vivid and beautiful for the life of your garment.
Natural dyes, just like synthetic dyes, are sensitive to direct sunlight. The dyes will hold up to everyday use, but I recommend storing naturally dyed yarn out of direct sunlight. Many natural dyes are sensitive to pH. Be careful with substances such as lemon juice- if they come into contact with natural dyes they will change the color, and this process is not reversible. Always use a pH neutral soap to wash naturally dyed garments.

Trabajar y vestirse de color natural ayuda a conectarse con la naturaleza, que implica aceptar también los ciclos de cambio del mundo natural. Los tintes naturales, así como los tintes sintéticos, son sensibles al sol directo. Los colores naturales sí van a permanecer con el uso cotidiano, pero yo recomiendo guardarlos fuera del sol directo. Algunos tintes naturales son sensibles al pH. Ten cuidado con ácidos como el limón cuando estás usando una prenda teñido naturalmente, porque si entran en contacto con el tinte pueden cambiarse de color, un proceso que no es reversible. Usa siempre un jabón de pH neutro para lavar prendas teñidas naturalmente.
How do I care for naturally dyed wool? / Cómo debo cuidar la lana teñido naturalmente?
Natural dyed wool should be washed by hand in a pH-neutral soap (like Eucalan or other wool washes) and dried and stored out of direct sunlight. As with all non-superwash wools, wash by hand only and lay flat to dry using your blocking method of choice.
La lana teñido naturalmente debe ser lavado a mano con un jabón de pH neutro (como Eucalan u otro champú para tejidos) y secado y guardado fuera del sol directo. Como todas las lanas no-superwash, debe ser lavado solo a mano y secado en una superficie plana según tu manera preferida de bloqueo.
Will the color bleed? / Los colores se van a correr?
You may notice some color release when working with very saturated colors. This is normal, and will usually not persist after washing your project. When blocking your finished garment, you may notice that the yarns release some color in the water. This does not mean the dye is coming out of the yarn and it will not cause color bleeding. I successfully block colorwork projects with no issues. However, some color bleeding is still possible with very saturated colors, as with saturated colors dyed by any other method. When planning a colorwork project, wash and block your swatch before beginning the project to make sure there are no issues with color bleeding.

All yarn has been carefully photographed to represent the true color as accurately as possible. However, computer monitors may display colors differently. Please contact Neblina if you have any questions.

A note on dye lots / Una note sobre lotes de teñido
Solid or semisolid yarns are dyed in small batches. Due to variables inherent in the process of natural dyeing, it is not possible to replicate colors exactly. Please purchase enough yarn of each color to complete your project. Like all hand-dyed yarns, there may be slight color variations among skeins. I recommend rotating skeins to assure even color throughout your project.
Las lanas de color sólido o semisólido son teñidos en lotes pequeños. Debido a los variables inherente al proceso, no es posible replicar los colores de manera exacta. Compra lana suficiente para completar el proyecto que tienes pensado. Como todas las lanas teñidas a mano, el color puede variar entre madejas. Recomiendo alternar las madejas para que el color se ve más parejo en el proyecto final.
Can I order more of a sold out color? / Puedo pedir otras madejas de un color que ya se vendió?
Due to the many variables in the dyeing process, it is not possible to replicate colors exactly. It may be possible to dye a custom lot in a similar color. Contact Neblina Wool for more information. Speckled yarns such as the Seasons collection are one of a kind. It may be possible to custom dye similar colorways, but no two skeins will be exactly alike. Some dye materials are only available seasonally and/or in limited quantities; therefore, the ability to produce more of certain colors depends on the time of year.
Debido a los variables en el proceso, no es posible reproducir perfectamente un color. Puede existir la posibilidad de teñir unas lanas a pedido en un color muy parecido.
